in the midst of busy-ness

Where does your hope come from? Many are in the middle of a scurry. We are figuring out what to do with our children, balancing the latest news articles, and trying to figure out something to watch on Netfilx; all this in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. It is a lot to take in, and if you are like most people, decision overload is real. For most families in the past, a trip to the local park can be relaxing or setting up a playdate can be helpful to release some pent up energy for the kids. But today, both of those potential breaks are replaced with masks and hand sanitizer. And this can be discouraging.

What then can we look forward to? We are in the middle of a unique time where we have to be creative about where we can find hope. Recently, our family purchased an RV. We had always loved the idea of taking our young boys camping and letting them explore the outdoors more. But the timing was never right. This year with our trips across the US cancelled, it seemed like the best time to invest in this tool. We see the outdoors and being socially distant as an opportunity to rejuvenate from our everyday life and as a way for us to disconnect. What we have found so far is that when we are disconnected, we find HOPE again. In nature, i’ve personally always found affirmation that God is real. He’s in the lakes, mountains, and creeks. Such detail found in every creation, verifies God’s power and that He created everything. And that breeds HOPE.

Some are not outdoor people and that’s okay. But what I am encouraging is that disconnecting at times will help slow your life down enough where you can feel the Peace that surpasses all understanding. Whatever you have to do to disconnect and discover that Hope again I encourage it.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Psalm 23:1-4
